A ceramic for decorative parts which has a golden color tone and can give a sense of luxuriousness, a feeling of aesthetic satisfaction, and spiritual serenity and which has excellent mechanical characteristics such as hardness and toughness and is reduced in color difference, more particularly, a ceramic for decorative parts comprising sintered titanium nitride which contains nickel, chromium, niobium and carbon with the carbon content falling within the range of 0.5 to 0.9mass%. In the ceramic, carbon diffuses into titanium nitride to form a solid solution, which accelerates the sintering. Therefore, the ceramic is improved in mechanical characteristics such as hardness and toughness and is reduced in color difference (?E*ab), which indicates a difference in color tone, by virtue of suppression of color shading brought about by a slight tendency toward an achromatic color due to the black color of carbon. Thus, the invention provides a desirable golden ceramic for decorative parts whose color tone difference among decorative parts is insensible.
