Four water-soluble epoxy resins that might be useful for aqueous gelation in an air atmosphere were studied for the gel casting of ceramics. The investigation was mainly focused on aspects of solubility, viscosity, suspension viscosity, and gelled body properties. The results demonstrated that ethylene glycol diglycidyl ether (EGDGE) and glycerol polyglycidyl ether (GPGE) were excellent for the gel casting of ceramics, and that polyethylene glycol diglycidyl ether and resorcinol diglycidyl ether were not suitable under the tested experimental conditions. The addition of 0.25 mL/g hardener was preferable for both EGDGE and GPGE.
