The object of this study was to compare the behaviour if four different eflocculants in vitreous satinaryware casting formulations containing either a carbonaceous or mineralogically similar non-carbonaceous ball clay component. The deffloculants consisted of the commonly used system in europe of sodium silicate and sodium carbonate, with the sodium silictae being replaced with sodium and ammonium polyacrylates respectively
