The invention relates to a ceramic coating material comprising ceramic and/or glass-like particles. In order to produce a ceramic coating material exhibiting no volume changes or exhibiting an increase in volume during burning, the invention provides that the ceramic coating material comprises between 10 and 90 wt.-% of reactive components, selected from the group consisting of metals, metalloids, or salts, which react during sintering at temperatures of 370 to 1,500 DEG C in a volume-compensating or volume-increasing manner with gases to form non-volatile reaction products. This results in volume compensation or a volume increase during the burning process, since the reactive components form a reaction with atmospheric oxygen or another atmosphere.
