Mullite has long been know as an important component of traditional ceamics. But its use as an advanced structural material at both high and low temperatures has also been increasing tremendously. Mullite has several advantageous engineering properties, including low hermal expansion, good chemical stability and high strength at high emperatures. Extensive research work has been going on in different laboratories on the different processing techniques of mullite ceramics to improve the material–s economic efficiency and also its mechanical, theraml and electronic properties. This paper embarks on a comprehensive review of the different processing techniques investigated and employed.
