As an engineering material, cordierite has many applications in different fields exploiting its unique electrical, mechanical and thermal properties. The synthetic aspect of cordierite is of constant interest to researchers. Elucidation of its structure and establishing the properties of its structure has always been considered a fascinating subject by researchers. In the present paper these different aspects of cordierite are briefly reviewed.
