PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a wet process flue gas desulfurizer which reduces the drift of an exhaust gas in an absorption tower and enhances the desulfurization performance by utilizing a liquid layer flowing down along the wall surface of the absorption tower by increasing no pressure loss in the tower. ; SOLUTION: The wet process flue gas desulfurizer is provided with an absorption tower 4 to absorb and remove a sulfur oxide by conducting the gas/liquid contact of an absorption liquid containing slurry including lime stone or lime and the exhaust gas, and forms a ringed first spray header 41 by using a part of the side wall 4a over the whole inner periphery of the side-wall surface of the absorption tower 4 with which the exhaust gas and absorption liquid are brought into contact at the absorption part. In the first spray header 41, a plurality of first spray nozzles 33 are installed over the whole periphery of the side-wall surface. The liquid layer flowing down along the wall surface of the absorption tower 4 impinges against the first spray header 41 and re-scatters. Thus, it is utilized for absorbing the exhaust gas. If second spray nozzles 34 are installed by extendedly installing a second spray header 42 equally from the first spray header 41, the deterioration of the desulfurization performance due to the drift of the exhaust gas 1 is prevented by eliminating the bias of the share of the second spray header 42.
